Chinese car maker BYD has just launched its highly anticipated owners’ app in Australia, which allows the 3,000 owners of Atto 3 electric SUVs in the country to control various aspects of their vehicles.
The latest update comes on top of the over-the-air updates BYD started rolling out late last year which have considerably improved the driving experience since The Driven first tested the Atto 3 back in August last year.
Back then we were very impressed by the engineering and build quality of the product and excited about a ground-up EV landing in Australia for under $A50,000.
Also, at that time, the vehicle was missing mapping, Spotify and many other goodies that Australian BYD owners can experience today.
March 2023 is expected to be the biggest delivery month for the brand in Australia so far, which means many more owners will now have the ability to control and monitor the status of their ground-up EV remotely.
BYD owners on the BYD EV Owners Australia Facebook group were some of the first to report the arrival of the new app.
“It is finally available! @AUS market,” said one owner.
To which one owner replied after downloading the new app: “WOOTS thanks for letting us know ? Downloading it now even though i dont know what it can do im excited ?”
According to the Google Play Store, the app can perform a number of functions, including:
Check vehicle range and power level.
Check tire pressure of the vehicle.
Check whether doors and windows of the vehicle are close
Other features showcased by owners include the ability to see charging status, time to finish charge, enable seat comfort functionality and other basic vehicle controls.
The app is now officially available on the Apple & Google Play stores.
