In preparation for the arrival of monopiles, the port will continue to see investment upgrades exceeding CAD 10 million (about USD 7.3 million) on infrastructure improvements, including additional road widening, maintenance of current infrastructure, and creation of three acres of new laydown lands adjacent to docking facilities, bringing total quayside laydown in excess of twelve acres.
“Argentia has been active in pursuing opportunities in the renewable energy space and these contracts endorse our key features and strategic location as we earn the confidence of global players and successfully execute major projects. This work creates important economic spinoff for the Placentia region and the entire Province”, said Wayne Power, Board Chair.
The Port of Argentia signed its first “significant” contract to support the development of clean energy projects in the Northeastern United States in August 2022.
The port authority said it is experiencing an unprecedented demand for marshalling support as part of the US energy transition.
“Previous Port infrastructure investments will continue to position Argentia as a strategic location to capture other oversized transport and storage projects in the renewable energy and other industrial sectors for generations to come”, said Scott Penney, CEO of the Port of Argentia.
