Arctech, a prominent provider of solar tracking and racking solutions, is gearing up to furnish its SkyLine II solar tracking solution, with a total capacity of 365.8 MW, to the Puerto Penasco solar park in Mexico, which is led by the Mexican government as a flagship initiative to accelerate the country's energy transition.
Upon completion, the Puerto Penasco solar park is expected to become Mexico's largest solar plant in a single unit and the eighth-largest in the world.
During COP27 in 2022, Mexico revised its renewable energy targets and committed to reducing emissions by 35% from business-as-usual levels by 2030. This underscores the country's ambitious drive to transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
Arctech has an impressive track record of delivering several high-profile projects in Mexico, including the 167.12-MW Sonora solar project and the 118-MW Horus project, since entering the country in 2018. In late 2022, Arctech signed three agreements in Mexico to provide roughly 10 MW of its solar tracking solutions, encompassing its SkyLine II, SkyLine and SkySmart series, showcasing the diversification of the country's market demands.
As of the end of 2021, Arctech had supplied tracking and racking systems to almost 1,300 solar power plants across 40 countries, totaling over 40 GW. This impressive achievement highlights the company's unwavering commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions globally by persistently innovating in a specialized solar sector.
Besides going for high-end solar panel technologies, the adoption of and integration with smart solar tracking systems have gained increasing traction for an optimal energy yield. Last month, another solar tracking solutions provider, Nextracker, signed an agreement to supply its trackers to a 1.568-GWdc solar PV plant in Gujarat, India.
