With a planned 10-MW capacity, the Alkan-2 geothermal power plant can meet the electricity needs of 20,000 people with an average of 62 million kWh of electricity production annually. The project cost of the new power plant has been estimated to be 480.25 million TL (approx. USD 24.9 million) with a projected economic life of 30 years.
A total of 5 well locations are planned for this project. Three have been designated for production (Alkan-1, Alkan-5 and Alkan-10A) and the two others will be for reinjection (Alkan-6 and Alkan-7).
Zorlu Energy currently operates the 45-MW Alasehir geothermal power plant in the district of Manisa. In 2021, Zorlu announced plans of integrating a solar power plant in Alasehir, thereby increasing its capacity by 3.58 MWe.
