The Philippines is receiving its first LNG delivery to the AG&P-led Philippines LNG (PHLNG) import terminal in Batangas from the Vitol-chartered 162,000m³ Golar Glacier.
The Golar Glacier came alongside the 138,000m³ Ish floating storage unit (FSU) on 9 April in the Philippines' Subic Bay — near to Batangas where the Ish will be used as part of the import facility.
The Ish was holding offshore the Philippines as of today, and the Golar Glacier was also still in Subic Bay, suggesting that more LNG could be delivered to the Ish as itcools down. It is unclear if future transshipments will also happen in Subic Bay instead of Batangas.
The Ish — chartered from Abu Dhabi's Adnoc — has not yet delivered any LNG to Batangas, where PHLNG is located.
The first cargo is set to be used by domestic power producer San Miguel Global Power, which operates the 1.2GW Ilijan gas-fired power plant in Batangas.
This is the first of two Philippines LNG terminals set to come on line in the coming few months, as the country's domestic gas resources are depleting, pushing it to the LNG market. The second terminal is set to receive the 162,000m³ BW Batangas floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) later this quarter ahead of first sendout and commissioning in the third quarter, and was docked in Singapore today.
