China-based CIMC Raffles has secured an order to build a 1,600-tonne wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) for CRCC Harbour & Channel Engineering Bureau (CRCC-HCEB).
The vessel will be 136 metres long, 53 metres wide, and 10 metres deep, and can accommodate 120 people onboard.
With its four triangular legs, the vessel’s main crane lifting capacity will reach more than 2,000 tonnes and it will be capable of the offshore installation of various types of wind turbines with 15 MW to 20 MW capacity.
The jack-up will be used to build offshore wind farms in China after delivery.
CIMC Raffles recently secured an order for a second WTIV for the Norwegian offshore wind services company Havfram Wind.
