The new power plant uses binary technology and will generate emissions-free geothermal energy for about 22,000 homes, equivalent to a reduction of about 3.5 million tons of CO2. Geothermal power will be supplied with NV Energy in accordance with the PPA signed between the two parties back in 2021.
Paul Thomsen, Vice President for Business Development at Ormat, also said that the project will “provide about 2.5 million dollars in economic development to Nevada.”
