Recently, the 300 MW photovoltaic power plant built by China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Power Engineering Co., Ltd. (CEEC Guangdong) in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia, was successfully connected to the grid and put into operation. The contract value was estimated to be about 1.2 billion yuan.
The 300 MW Rabigh project is located on the Red Sea coast in western region of Saudi Arabia, approximately 150 kilometres north of Jeddah. It is one of the key projects in the Saudi government’s ‘Vision 2030’ to aggressively develop new energy and promote the energy transition strategy.
The Rabigh project will generate an average of 2,240 kWh per kilowatt per year. Total power generation in the first year will be 894 GWh, providing 45,300 households with green and clean electricity, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 779,900 MT, effectively optimising the Saudi energy structure and protecting the local ecological environment.
