Turbine technology provider Gugler Water Turbines has taken a strategic step towards the growing wave energy sector by signing a significant cooperation agreement with Exowave. The partnership will see Gugler Water Turbines become a key provider for the ongoing EUDP project by Exowave – 250MW wave power in the Danish North Sea by 2030 - phase 1 –providing the pelton hydro turbine, generator, and electrical equipment.
As the wave energy sector continues to experience substantial growth, with increasing support from governments, it is crucial to establish a robust and reliable value chain capable of meeting ambitious targets. The EU, for example, has set a target of 1GW of ocean energy installations by 2030 and 40 GW by 2050.
The partnership between Gugler and Exowave will enable them to help meet these targets by combining their services. The cooperation agreement will initially extend to future projects in the North Sea and then on an international scale.
