Codling Wind Park is an offshore wind project under development in the Irish Sea, set in an area called Codling Bank, approximately 13-22 kilometres off the County Wicklow coast, between Greystones and Wicklow Town.
The project is being developed by Codling Wind Park Ltd, a 50/50 joint venture between Fred. Olsen Seawind, wholly owned by Bonheur ASA, and EDF Renewables, wholly owned by Électricité de France SA.
Following a verification process, the final auction result is expected to be confirmed and announced on 14 June 2023.
Subject to all necessary permits and consents being received, Codling Wind Park could begin construction in 2026, and is expected to take two to three years to complete, the developers said.
The Irish government is expected to award around 2.5 GW of offshore wind capacity in its first offshore wind auction under the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme – ORESS 1.
The pre-qualification stage started in December 2022 and the final results of the auction are expected to be published by June 2023.
