Located at the strategic crossroads of the A22/E45 motorway in Affi at Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy and a popular holiday location, the charging station is also designed to serve commercial traffic travelling across continental Europe.
Each of the 18 high-power chargers offer up to 350kW charging capacity and are covered with a solar PV roof.
In addition to providing power for the chargers, solar power generated by the roofs can also be fed into the local power grid as needed.
“Affi represents the heart of carbon-neutral electric travel in Northern Italy and beyond,” said Elena Airoldi, Country Manager Italy of IONITY.
“The location makes a perfect entry to the Lake Garda region and at the same time represents an ideal stop-over for long distance electric travel going north or south.”
Importantly, in addition to being a popular tourism destination, Affi has also successfully demonstrated how local municipal investments in renewable energy and electric mobility can not only reduce CO2 emissions but also promote local economic growth.
