Qatar state-owned oil and gas company QatarEnergy has awarded a US$10bn engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the North Field South (NFS) project to a consortium of Technip and Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC). The EPC contracts includes the construction of two 8 Mt/year gas liquefaction trains, associated facilities for gas treatment and natural gas liquids (NGL) recovery, as well as helium extraction and refining within Ras Laffan Industrial City.
The NFS LNG project, developed by QatarEnergy (75%) in partnership with TotalEnergies (9.375%), Shell (9.375%), and ConocoPhillips (6.25%), is part of Qatar's plans to boost its gas liquefaction capacity from the current 77 Mt/year to 126 Mt/year by 2028.
