Rem Purus has taken delivery of the first of two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) from Fincantieri-controlled Norwegian shipbuilder Vard.
In 2021, Rem Offshore signed a contract with VARD for the construction and design of two CSOVs, with options for two additional vessels.
Based on Vard 4 19 design, the vessels will have a height-adjustable motion-compensated gangway with an elevator system, a height-adjustable boat landing system, and a 3D-compensated crane.
The CSOVs, which will feature Kongsberg’s permanent magnet (PM) propulsion system, will have accommodation for 120 persons on board.
The second vessel will be built and delivered in Vung Tau, Vietnam, and is scheduled for delivery in 2024.
With a length of 85 metres and a beam of 19.5 metres, the first CSOV will be deployed to serve RWE’s 1.4 GW Sofia offshore wind farm in the UK.
The vessel will support the project’s construction phase, providing welfare and transfer services to personnel for asset maintenance and also operating as the construction and marine coordination hub, with the startup in the second quarter of 2024.
Rem Power will work out of the Port of Blyth which will be the base for the project’s offshore construction.
