The Taiwanese Government is planning to add 15 GW of offshore wind power capacity by 2035. Under the MoU, the two companies will support the country’s offshore wind growth with cable-layers, foundation installation vessels, and wind turbine installation vessels.

The MoU also outlines partnerships on key infrastructure like offshore wind supply base, as well as working together to establish new local partnerships and strengthen governmental and industry-academia cooperation in Taiwan, the partners said.

Taiya’s current offshore wind projects in Taiwan have a projected capacity of 2.2 GW which includes a 440 MW Huan-yang wind farm located off the coast of Changhua, being developed together with EDF Renewables.

Cyan Renewables’ parent company Seraya Partners announced the launch of the new company in September 2022 and said this was Asia’s first pure-play offshore wind farm vessel operator serving the offshore wind farm industry. Shortly after the launch, Cyan Renewables established a regional headquarters for operations in Europe in Denmark.

The company recently signed a letter of intent with China-based Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry to build its first Ulstein-design foundation installation vessel.
