The company said that they are low in maintenance and easy to install (plug-and-play). To ensure durability in challenging maritime conditions, the fixed boom cranes also come with Palfinger’s corrosion duplex coating system according to the latest standard.
This project is a milestone for Palfinger since it is the first serial delivery of the redesigned PF cranes that are compliant with the EN13852-3 standard, the company said.
All cranes have already arrived in Japan and are currently being commissioned.
Located approximately three kilometres from the shore of Ishikari Bay in Hokkaido, the Ishikari offshore wind project will utilise 14 Siemens Gamesa 8.0 MW wind turbines that are built specifically for offshore use.
The offshore wind farm will also feature a battery storage component with 100 MW x 180 MWh of capacity.
The Ishikari offshore wind project , and its accompanying battery storage component, are expected to reach commercial operation in December of 2023.
With the Hibikinada offshore wind farm, Ishikari constitutes the second offshore wind project in Japan for which Palfinger continues its collaboration with Nippon Steel Engineering.
In sum, it is the third Japanese offshore wind farm that will be supplied with platform cranes from Palfinger.
