An urban quarter called ‘The Hill’ creates an environment where people and nature exist in enhanced but natural harmony. The ‘hill is actually an ecologically sustainable outdoor climate control mechanism for the close community recreation area. Under the large mound is a collection of recycled building demolition remains with clever interior technologies like subsidence cooling and geothermal exchange. ‘The Hill’ converts the abundance of heat energy into cool air and releases it through thermal chimneys making this unique outdoor space enjoyable on the hottest of summer days.
The ‘Adelaide Rocks’ project is a concept design proposal for the international Royal Adelaide Hospital Design Competition. Their proposal won a joint Second Prize and People’s Choice Award.
