Maxeon Solar Technologies hosted an opening ceremony for its recently expanded and renovated manufacturing plant located in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Governor of Baja California, was invited to attend the event, along with other distinguished guests.

For the expansion and renovation of the Mexicali plant, the company invested around $70 million. The new plant will be devoted to the production of Maxeon's high-efficiency shingled-cell Performance line solar panels. According to Maxeon, this investment brings the company's total investment in solar manufacturing in Mexico to more than $260 million. Meanwhile, it boosts the Mexicali plant's installed production capacity to 1.8 GW per year.

Maxeon also owns a second manufacturing plant in the state of Baja California but in the city of Ensenada. Together, both plants contribute to a combined annual production capacity of more than 2.5 GW and employ more than 2,000 workers, consolidating Maxeon's leading position in solar manufacturing in Mexico and across the Americas.

"This important milestone is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the entire Maxeon team. Our best-in-class solar products made in Mexicali and Ensenada can be found in power plants and rooftops around the world, through which we contribute to reducing carbon emissions and combating climate change," said Bill Mulligan, CEO of Maxeon Solar Technologies.

At the ceremony, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda said that Maxeon's values and principles align with the State Government's focus on environmental protection and emission reduction in accordance with the United Nations' 2030 Agenda. She also praised the arrival of innovative ventures in Baja California, contributing to employment, well-being and solutions for local residents.

Maxeon's investment in Mexico echoes its ambition to fuel growth in the Americas. Besides expanding its manufacturing capabilities, the company is also embracing the era of "smart living," shaping its solutions to meet the demands of a changing energy management landscape.
