It has a generating capacity of 650MW.
JERA’s 650-megawatt (MW) Yokosuka Thermal Power Station Unit 1 started its commercial operations in June.
In a statement, JERA said the unit which it has been replacing through its subsidiary JERA Power Yokosuka G.K. is a high-efficiency coal-fired power station.
It uses an ultra-supercritical power generation system, it said.
The second unit which will also have a 650MW capacity is planned to start operations by February 2024.
