Peugeot has announced that the small all-electric e-208 city hatchback will be arriving in Australia next year, and it has already opened registrations of interest.
It is the third EV offering from Peugeot in Australia, following the announcement earlier this year of the E-Partner commercial van, and then of its first passenger electric SUV, the e-2008 in April.
Now Peugeot has announced that the small all-electric e-208 city hatchback will be arriving in Australia next year with the registration of interest open now.
No price guide has yet been released for the e-208, but in New Zealand it is offered at $NZ67,990 ($A62,000) before the government’s subsidies.
It features a 50 kWh battery pack which delivers up to 382 km of WLTP range and has an official efficiency of 16.4 kWh for every 100 km distance travelled.

“As we continue to broaden our electrified offering, the new E-208 will strengthen our range as we re-enter the small hatch market in Australia. We are confident the E-208’s exciting electric performance and eye-catching design will appeal to that segment’s customer.”
Some of the key features that the e-208 aims to deliver unique modern styling with sporty looks.
On the inside, it will also feature Peugeot’s i-Cockpit system for a great digital experience along with the latest generation of Peugeot’s infotainment system.
As a quick rundown, in New Zealand where the funky-looking Peugeot e-208 is available, its powered by a 100 kW motor that drives the front wheels, it delivers up to 260 Nm of torque. This torque also helps it to get from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.
In terms of exterior dimensions, it’s smaller in length compared to the upcoming BYD Dolphin and the MG4 which isn’t such a bad thing. It comes in at:
4055 mm in length
1960 mm in width
1430 mm in height
Those interested in the new e-208 in Australia can register their interest on Peugeot’s website. More details on the local specs and pricing will be released closer to the launch.
