"Since the moment [the first generating] unit was connected to the unified energy system, 16.3 billion kWh of electricity have been generated. This has made it possible to replace a substantial amount of natural gas, about 4.4 bcm," Karankevich was reported as saying by his ministry's press service.
He recalled that BelNPP's second generating unit is undergoing the pilot operation stage and dynamic testing. It has generated 840 million kWh of electricity since being connected to the grid.
The minister also said that electricity consumption in Belarus grew by 946 million kWh, or 3.6%, year-on-year to 20.2 billion kWh in the first half of 2023.
