Voltalia contracted with Ireland-based independent power producer (IPP) Power Capital Renewable Energy to build, operate and maintain four solar power projects located in southeast Ireland with a combined capacity of 230 MW.
The projects comprise the Lysaghtstown plant in County Cork (131 MW), the Tullabeg plant in County Wexford (83.9 MW), the Painestown plant in County Meath (9.3 MW) and the Beaulieu plant in County Louth (6.6 MW). They are all in the construction phase and are slated for completion later this year and in 2024. The generated electricity will be sold through long-term contracts within the tech sector to fuel the decarbonization of tech companies and support the country's Industry 4.0 strategy.
According to the contract, Voltalia will design and build the projects; then, the company will operate and maintain these projects on behalf of Power Capital for 15 years. Power Capital Renewable Energy, known for its renewable energy and battery storage focus boasting an Irish renewables pipeline of over 5 GW, owns all four projects.
As a pioneer in the corporate solar and renewables market, Voltalia's team comprises experts in the field of engineering, procurement, construction, production management maintenance and distribution will support the recruitment and management of over 400 local workers, showcasing their commitment to local engagement.
