Green hydrogen projects continue to gain momentum worldwide. Sungrow inked a deal with the Indian EPC service provider, Larsen & Toubro, to provide its 1+X modular inverter skid solution for a 2.2-GWac solar power plant in Saudi Arabia. This follows an earlier deal where Sungrow supplied Larsen & Toubro with 400 MWh of energy storage solutions for the same project.
This inverter solution adopts an innovative modular design and combines the advantages of both central and string inverters. Each unit features a 1.1 MW capacity with an independent MPPT controller, and can be expanded to 8.8 MW by connecting eight units together. The flexible design makes different block sizes possible for higher adaptability, makes on-site operation and maintenance easier and improves power generation for the plant.
The 1+X modular inverter is equipped with smart string-level diagnosis to improve power yield and enables real-time parallel arc detection for enhanced safety, helping to improve overall operational efficiency and cost.
In terms of mechanical properties, this solution goes beyond its IP65 protection capability. It is paired with Sungrow's high-end smart forced air-cooling technology, which is custom-made for extreme climates. This ensures its smooth operation under the high temperatures prevalent in the Middle East.
"We are thrilled to partner with Larsen & Toubro to bring our products to the landmark NEOM Green Hydrogen project," said James Wu, Senior Vice President of Sungrow.
"Sungrow will continue to follow our mission of 'Clean power for all' and is preparing for the major challenges and opportunities towards the carbon neutrality of Saudi Arabic."
