Ampol has announced a global partnership that will help it welcome in a new hydrogen refuelling station down under
Australian petrol company Ampol has entered into a partnership with hydrogen equipment manufacturer and supplier OneH2 Inc to represent the United States based company in the Australian hydrogen market.
The OneH2 partnership will allow Ampol to offer a unique and complete hydrogen refuelling solution, giving customers the opportunity to trial hydrogen technology and better understand how it can further assist their decarbonisation journeys, through alternative fuel options.
Ampol executive general manager of international and new business Brent Merrick says the partnership with OneH2 is a natural extension to Ampol's fuel portfolio, given its expertise in transport fuels, reliable supply chains and the similarities between hydrogen and fuel products.
"We are excited to partner with OneH2 and expand our role in the hydrogen space, as we continue to work to deliver safe, reliable, and convenient future energy solutions for customers," Merrick says.
"Hydrogen has a key role to play in reducing emissions across Australia’s transport and broader energy sector and offers a unique opportunity to decarbonise hard to abate heavy transport and heavy machinery sectors.
"We expect early hydrogen adoption within heavier vehicle fleets and operations who will benefit from short refuelling times and longer range compared to current battery electric alternatives."
OneH2 president and CEO Paul Dawson says: "Our products are engineered to the highest standard and we are excited to see them in use supporting Australia's decarbonisation efforts."
"Over the past 18 months, we have been pleasantly surprised and encouraged by Ampol's forward-thinking strategy for hydrogen in the transport sector.
"We're proud to be working with Ampol, an iconic, Australian owned transport energy provider. Hydrogen as a transport fuel is not easy. Our experience in designing, manufacturing and deploying hydrogen equipment across the US over the past eight years, will allow us to accelerate its adoption in the Australian market."
Initially, Ampol will deploy OneH2’s on-site refuelling offer which will allow customers to easily refuel their hydrogen equipment safely on site, where they need it.
