The Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan plans to limit coal exports, Minister Kanat Sharlapaev said during a briefing in the government on Tuesday. The corresponding order is being developed, Vlast.kz reports.
"We have introduced a restriction on the export of coal from the country by road. We are also developing measures to limit coal exports," said Sharlapaev.
He explained that these measures are necessary to ensure that social coal, which is sold at reduced prices, is not exported outside the country.
"Unfortunately, we had cases when social coal was exported from the country - it was bought cheap, but sold at export prices. We are forced to introduce measures to limit the export of coal to provide the population of Kazakhstan with coal for municipal and household needs as much as possible," he noted.
