The name of the vendor, a global energy service provider, and financial details about the transaction were not available. “Thanks to this additional acquisition, our Italian subsidy-free footprint increases to over 500 MW, demonstrating our commitment to being a major supporter of Italy’s energy transition,” said Dario Bertagna, Co-Head of Capital Dynamics Clean Energy
The acquired portfolio consists of schemes that are fully-permitted and with a shovel-ready status. Once in operation, the two photovoltaic (PV) plants will generate about 324 GWh of electricity per year, which will be sold under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). The combined annual output is estimated to be enough to supply more than 63,500 homes.
During the construction phase, Capital Dynamics will use local contractors, expecting the projects to bring roughly EUR 1.7 million (USD 1.8m) in investment to the local community. The Switzerland-based company noted that the operation of the new solar parks will lift its gross annual production in Italy to around 1 TWh a year.
Earlier this week, Capital Dynamics bought a 37.2-MW fully-consented and shovel-ready wind project in the Scottish Highlands.
