The project is located in the Yingtai area of the Jilin Oilfield which has previously been identified as having favorable conditions for the development of geothermal energy. Fang 52 represents the first medium-low permeability geothermal project in the Jilin Oilfield. Geothermal production is currently utilizing the Fang 52-02 heat recovery well and the Fan 52-08 reinjection well.
Four wells in the Yingtai area were initially pre-qualified for the project. These has then undergone thermal reservoir perforation and tested for heat extraction efficiency, production flowrate, and production temperature under different scenarios. Parameters were measured as well for the development of underground heat storage.
Once the Fang 52 geothermal project is completed and goes into operation, it is expected to contribute to savings of up to 1.41 million cubic meters of natural gas, 1.85 million yuan in operating costs, and reduce energy consumption by about 1,818 tons of equivalent coal. The Jilin Oilfield aims to expand the use of geothermal resources from medium to low-permeability reservoirs, expand waste heat utilization, consolidate the construction of zero-carbon demonstration areas, and continue to promote the integration of new energy and traditional oil and gas businesses.
