Dotz and SINTEF, through its Department of Process Technology, signed a development collaboration agreement for the evaluation and advancement of Dotz’s carbon capture and storage technology for industrial deep decarbonization, leveraging SINTEF’s extensive experience and knowledge in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies.
The collaboration will initially focus on the optimization of Dotz’s sorbent-based carbon dioxide (CO2) capture technology and the design and construction of a bench scale test unit, ultimately aiming for the design and construction of Dotz’s first industrial pilot unit. Dotz’s point-source capture technology utilises plastic waste to produce a carbon-based solid sorbent with nanosized pores to capture and store CO2 from flue gas.
Once developed, the bench scale unit will enable the demonstration of Dotz’s sorbent-based CO2 capture process efficiency with a variety of industrial flue gases.
Dotz CEO Sharon Malka said: "We are excited to collaborate with SINTEF, one of the leading global research organisations for climate technologies, to advance our innovative sorbent-based technology for CO2 capture. Establishing strategic partnerships with leading partners is a key component of our strategy and the collaboration with SINTEF is a strategic step towards achieving our goal of providing industrial emitters in hard-to-abate sectors an environmentally friendly and affordable means to reduce their carbon footprint.
“The CO2 capture industry is undergoing significant growth while playing a critical role in the energy transition and we look forward to advancing our breakthrough technology as viable solution for industrial decarbonization.”
SINTEF is an independent research organisation with over 30 years of research on CCUS technologies and its focus areas contribute towards the transition to and achievement of future, sustainable, energy systems.
SINTEF Research Manager, Jasmina H. Cavka said, “As a pioneer in the research and development of climate technologies, with longstanding experience in CCUS technologies, we are pleased to be working with Dotz to advance the development of their promising, sorbent technology. Our team is looking forward to work with Dotz’s R&D team, and further advance the technology towards its next stage, as we believe that CO2 capture and storage technologies for industrial point-sources are crucial in achieving the global net zero emissions goal.”
Investor Briefing
