Chinese solar module maker JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:JKS) today announced a 5-GW expansion of the high-efficiency mono wafer production capacity at its factory in Leshan, Sichuan Province.
This latest project is expected to be finalised in the second quarter of 2020, at which point JinkoSolar's mono wafer production capacity will reach 18 GW, the company said in a press statement.
The move follows the 5-GW Phase I expansion that was concluded in the second quarter of 2019.
"Rapidly expanding capacity for mono products will enhance the overall integration of our production and significantly improve overall profitability going forward,” commented Kangping Chen, chief executive offiver of JinkoSolar.
