New Tesla model 3 to have a punchier audio system

In early September, Tesla unveiled its new Model 3 to the world which featured updates to its design along added features, including it now emerges a significant upgrade to the sound system.

These vehicles are now making their way into showrooms in Europe, along with parts of Asia, allowing fans and order holders to check them out in person and test out some of these new features.

A key change has been an upgrade to the sound system from the current model to incorporate a subwoofer to the base RWD variant.

One current Model 3 owner and order holder of the new upcoming car in Europe got a chance to test and compare the new sound system to the existing model.

Alexandru S from Romania got to sit in the new car at a local Tesla experience centre and was genuinely impressed with the upgraded sound system in the new entry-level Model 3.

Sharing on Tesla Model 3 Highland facebook group, Alexandru described the differences observed: ‘On the new model, the sound is way better. I wasn’t expecting such a big difference. In fact, I thought it will sound just about the same. Boy oh boy I was wrong.’

According to Alexandru, the new sound system is punchier and has a greater amount of bass compared to his current car: ‘A lot more bass. Higher volume. A lot punchier and better fidelity.’

The Tesla sound system has been quite good in the current generation of vehicles but the new model has brought several key improvements.

One of these is the addition of an amplifier to the RWD variant that helps deliver this punchy bass through the standard sound system that consists of 9 individual speakers located throughout the cabin.

The other key improvement is the inclusion of acoustic glass in more parts of the car including the rear roof section, making the overall cabin a lot quieter when on the road and when listening to music.

This is an upgrade on the current system found in Australia’s most popular electric sedan which is equipped with 8 speakers.

Buyers who value a high-quality sound system previously had to upgrade to a Long Range variant or upgrade one with an aftermarket solution which could void the car’s warranty.

Now from early accounts, buyers looking for improved quality sound system will be able to find it in the entry RWD variant as well, without having to pay the premium that comes by upgrading to a Long Range. For the new Model 3, it’s a $10,000 price jump between the two variants.

For the additional price, customers who are looking for an even more immersive experience, the Long Range variant comes with dual amplifiers along with 17 speakers located within the vehicle.

Tesla puts the output from the upgraded sound system as: ‘Enjoy studio-quality sound from any seat with our Tesla-designed premium audio system.’

The current Model 3 offers a 14-speaker sound system on the dual-motor Long Range and Performance model cars.

With an upgraded cabin geared for better road noise isolation and an upgraded sound system in both RWD and Long Range vehicles to deliver a punchier music experience, it’s bound to please many customers of the 2024 Tesla Model 3.
