Sungrow held a signing ceremony as it penned an agreement to to deliver a 100MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Bramley, Hampshire.
The partnership between the BESS developer, Penso Power and investor BW ESS, was originally announced in July this year, as covered by Solar Power Portal.
Since July, the project capacity has since grown, increasing from 260MWh to 330MWh and is scheduled to become operational in 2024.
The project will also be the first in the UK to feature Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled ESS. According to the company, combing the 2.5MW power conversion system and 5MWh battery into a single 20ft container, will enhance the project’s efficiency, whilst also significantly reducing capital and operational costs.
“This project signifies another momentous milestone for Sungrow as we continue the journey to provide cutting-edge energy solutions to the UK market,” said Dr. James Li, director of ESS Europe, Sungrow.
“Our collaboration with Penso Power and BW ESS exemplifies our commitment to advancing clean and reliable energy storage solutions that will transform the energy landscape of the UK.”
Solar Power Portal’s publisher Solar Media will host the 9th annual Energy Storage Summit EU in London, 21-22 February 2024. This year it is moving to a larger venue, bringing together Europe’s leading investors, policymakers, developers, utilities, energy buyers and service providers all in one place.
