"Next year, we plan to supply the first electricity from the Akkuyu NPP [...] This experience may prove to be of practical use during the construction of a new NPP in Turkey (the Sinop NPP). We stand ready to offer cooperation in the field of small NPPs," Novak said.
Russia and Turkey intend to pursue new joint projects, including in a key sector such as energy, the deputy prime minister said. Russian energy supplies to Turkish consumers have been stable, he said.
The agenda for the Russian-Turkish talks also included the implementation of a project in renewable energy sources at the Akkuyu NPP to gain additional amounts of electricity, the Russian government said.
Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat, who co-chairs the intergovernmental commission, described the two countries' cooperation in deliveries of gas and petroleum products and in the nuclear power sector as serious.
"We will continue to promote energy relations," Bolat said.
