Named Rumorosa Solar, the PV facility represents an investment of MXN 960 million (USD 47.9m/EUR 43.6m). It has 165,510 solar panels covering an area of 135 hectares in Tecate municipality. The solar farm will be producing enough power to meet the consumption of 70,000 local homes.
Currently, IEnova has more than 1,000 MW of renewables in its portfolio in Mexico. This includes two wind farms and three solar parks, and one wind and two PV projects under development.
Last month, IEnova announced it had been awarded its third power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 150-MW solar project in Juarez, Chihuahua state.
