Enercity Wins Permit for 44-MW Wind Farm Repowering in Germany

German energy supplier Enercity AG has obtained clearance to repower and operate a 44-MW wind farm in the state of Brandenburg in its home country, along with partners.

The proposed site in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg will consist of eight turbines in the surroundings of the town of the same name. Those machines will replace seven existing units under a repowering project to be undertaken by Enercity and its compatriot Greenwind.

Six of the Beeskow wind farm’s eight machines will be owned and operated by Enercity, while Greenwind will own the other two. With construction works due to be launched this year, the repowered plant will go online by end-2024. Its annual output of 85 million kWh is expected to meet the demand of 34,000 homes.

Together with Hanover-based Alterric, Enercity is seeking permission for adding extra four turbines within the Beeskow park and thus form a 12-turbine complex.

“As early as 2030, we plan to have more than 2 gigawatts of installed wind power on land and a yield of around eight terawatt hours, which will enable us to cover the electricity needs of around two million households,” said Enercity’s CEO Susanna Zapreva.
