Neoen SA (EPA:NEOEN) has initiated construction of three solar projects in Italy that will add 24.7 MWp of total power generation capacity.
The French renewables company said on Tuesday that the projects are its first endeavour in the Italian photovoltaic (PV) sector.
Specifically, Neoen will build two solar farms of 8 MWp and 7.6 MWp, respectively, in the northern region of Lombardy and a 9.1-MW plant in the Marche region of eastern Italy. All of them are planned to kick off commercial operations at the start of 2025.
Intec Energy Solutions has been hired as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. Once up and running, the three PV parks are expected to generate electricity that will be enough to supply more than 9,000 homes annually. Most of their output and related guarantees of origin will be sold under power purchase agreements (PPAs), while some electricity will be sold on the wholesale market.
Currently, Neoen is working on the development of several solar and energy storage projects in Italy, which will enter construction within 12-16 months, the French firm said.
