The U.S. exported 742,824.6 metric tons of wood pellets in January, down from 1.01 million metric tons the previous month, but up when compared to the 637,518.4 metric tons exported in January 2023, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on March 7.
The U.S. exported wood pellets to more than a dozen countries in January. The U.K. was the top destination for U.S. wood pellet exports at 525,500.8 metric tons, followed by Japan at 99,218 metric tons and Denmark at 35,780.2 metric tons.
The value of U.S. wood pellet exports reached $140.03 million in January, down from $181.34 million in December, but up from $114.66 million in January of the previous year.
