Vestas has received a firm order from Thyborøn-Harboøre Vindmøllelaug I/S in 2002 for a V236-15.0 MW wind turbine to be installed directly on the waterfront of the port of Thyborøn in the north-western part of Denmark.
The order consists of a V236-15.0 MW wind turbine and includes the supply, delivery and commissioning of the wind turbine. The order also includes a 20-year AOM4000 service agreement, as well as an agreement for Vestas to perform testing and verification activities on the wind turbine.
“We are very pleased to install the new V236-15.0 MW turbine at a site in Thyborøn that offers excellent wind conditions for optimal energy production. Almost 2,800 local shareholders have funded the turbine and we look forward to showcasing it to locals and tourists as we hope that becomes an attraction,” says Jens Jørgen Birch, spokesperson for Thyborøn-Harboøre Vindmøllelaug I/S as of 2002.
“We are very satisfied with the effective collaboration with Thyborøn-Harboøre Vindmøllelaug for this turbine which will help us in our final verification campaign before starting series production and installation of the first offshore projects with the V236-15.0 MW turbine. The 264-day approval process by the municipality has been extremely fast, while local support from the citizens of Thyborøn has been overwhelmingly positive. This is therefore a great international example of how a combination of rapid permits and local engagement can support the green transition,” says Nils de Baar, President of Vestas Northern and Central Europe.
Vestas has already installed the prototype at the Østerild national test center in Denmark and has received firm orders for the V236-15.0 MW wind turbine for offshore projects in Germany, Poland and the Netherlands, and will begin installing the first turbines at high sea from 2025.
The Nissum Bredning site is located in Thyborøn, in the municipality of Lemvig, northern Denmark. Delivery of the turbine is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2024 and commissioning is planned for the second quarter of 2024.
