All works related to this project will be within the boundaries of the 2021-IR-01 Geothermal Resource Operation Area covering the neighborhoods of Yilmaz, Çavlu, Keli, Atatürk, Zafer, Beseylül, Gaziler, and Kirveli. As part of the expansion project, 28 geothermal wells will be drilled to depths of about 3500 m± 500 m, covering both production and reinjection. The expansion of the existing geothermal power plant will be done within the scope of the previous “EIA Not Required” decision.
The capacity increase will provide approximately 200,000,000 kWh/year of additional power generation, while the new 80-MW power plant will supply approximately 640,000,000 kWh/year. Based on an annual per capita electrical energy consumption of 3,142 kWh (TEDA? / Turkey Electricity Distribution Sector Report, 2021), the project is expected to meet the annual electrical energy needs of approximately 300,000 people.
The current plan is to use ORC technology for the new power plants. However, these plans may change based on drilling results, as well as technological developments before and during the construction phase.
Sanko Energy currently operates three geothermal power plants in the Salihli-Manisa region with a total installed capacity of 70 MW.
