Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov and World Bank Group leadership agreed to develop a financial model of cooperation for construction of Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower plant, president's press service reported.
On April 18, the Cabinet Chairman held meetings with World Bank Regional Director for Economy and Finance Asad Alam and World Bank Vice President for Human Development Mamta Murthy.
The draft of country economic memorandum and framework partnership strategy were discussed with Asad Alam. Cooperation in education, health care and social protection was discussed with Mamta Murthy.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev then met with World Bank Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Sameh Wahba to discuss cooperation in agriculture and water resources. The parties highlighted importance of discussion of these issues amid climate change and natural disasters globally.
It is supposed that the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP will be constructed in Toktogul district, Jalal-Abad region. The height of the dam will make around 256 meters. The volume of the reservoir will be 5.4 billion cubic metes. The capacity of the plant will make 1860 MW. Construction is expected to take around 10 years. The Ministry of Energy said Kambar-Ata-1 HPP would generate more than 5 billion kWh of electricity a year.
