There were 62 power plant contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in Q3 2019, marking a drop of 49 per cent over the last 12-month average of 122, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.
The Power Plant tender category stood at first place when compared with other categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q3 2019 with 62 contracts and a 32.8 per cent share, followed by Generation Equipment with 57 contracts and a 30.2 per cent share and Electricity Procurement with 42 contracts and a 22.2 per cent share during the quarter.
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
· Project Implementation: 47 Contracts and a 75.8 per cent share
· Consulting & Similar Services: Seven contracts and an 11.3 per cent share
· Power Purchase Agreement: Four contracts and a 6.5 per cent share
· Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: Four contracts and a 6.5 per cent share.
Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 38 contracts with a 61.3 per cent share, followed by thermal with ten contracts and a 16.1 per cent share and wind with seven contracts and an 11.3 per cent share.
