18 May 2024  by turkiyenewspaper

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at the Presidential Complex.

Following bilateral and inter-delegation meetings, a "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Energy" was signed in the presence of Erdogan and Kobakhidze between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The memorandum was signed by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, on behalf of Türkiye, and by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili, on behalf of Georgia.

The energy cooperation between Türkiye and Georgia has been deepening over recent years, with significant strides made in various projects and agreements. The recent agreement underscores this progress, which aims to enhance bilateral energy collaboration and ensure sustainable energy development.

The cooperation is part of a broader trilateral effort involving Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, focusing on creating a strategic energy corridor. Key projects like the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Southern Gas Corridor are central to these efforts, facilitating the transportation of natural gas from the Caspian region to Europe through these countries.
