Crealis In-Motion-Charging for Limoges Métropole

27 Nov 2019  by BUSWORLD
Limoges Métropole received three 18-metre Iveco Bus Crealis In-Motion-Charging for its busiest network line, Line 4, which runs through the heart of the urban centre. The company already has 27 Cristalis buses running on this line. The Crealis In-Motion-Charging is an electric bus that uses “In-Motion-Charging” technology, combining two overhead lines and energy storage in the form of batteries.

Available in 12- and 18-metres, the Crealis In-Motion-Charging is according to Iveco Bus particularly suited for towns and cities with challenging topography, like hills. With In-Motion-Charging transport authorities can envision fully electric bus lines, free from overhead lines on part of the route, while operators enjoy the benefits of an electric vehicle that performs well in all circumstances, with no loss of time due to charging as this occurs while driving under the overhead lines and when braking. Iveco Bus states that the Crealis can run on batteries for distances up to 25 to 40% of the line. The Crealis In-Motion-Charging can carry up to 145 passengers. The Limoges public transport network has 131 vehicles, including 31 trolleybus covering some 32 km of lines. Five of the various network lines are run entirely using trolleybus vehicles. Trolleybus lines cover 1.35 million km and serve 7.6 million passengers each year, i.e. nearly 50% of the total Limoges Métropole network.
