Exploration Drilling for Geothermal Resources Planned in Dikili, Izmir, Türkiye

Uc-As Akaryakit Nakliye Inaaat Tarim Turizm Taahhüt ve Ithalat Ihracat San. Tic. Ltd. Lti. (Üc-As Company) is planning to do geothermal exploratory drilling in the Bademli Neighborhood of Dikili District of Izmir Province, Türkiye.

Geothermal resource exploration is planned in the exploration license area with license number 1596 (ER:3395343).

A map showing the location of the activity area and related documents have been submitted as an annex to the exploration license. Within the scope of the project, geothermal resource exploration studies will be carried out with drilling and 1 EIA area has been established in the area.

The exploration license area, which has a total area of 2.423,80 hectares, consists of two bounded regions and drilling activities will be carried out within the first region. The data to be obtained from the exploration campaign in the project area will be submitted to the ?zmir Governorship Investment Monitoring and Coordination Presidency and will be converted into an operating license.

The work area determined for the drilling works is 400 m² (20m x 20m) including the drilling site. The depth of the borehole to be drilled will be approximately 650 m ± 200 m. In addition, a drilling mud pond will be opened to collect and reuse the drilling mud.

The total cost of the project has been determined as 6,013,489 TL, including consultancy services and equipment costs.

According to the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulation, the project is exempt from environmental permits regarding air emissions. However, all processes will be carried out in accordance with the relevant regulations and circular provisions.

In late 2022, a geothermal-heated greenhouse project in the Dikili district broke ground. The facility will operate on a total area of 3 million square meters will be the largest geothermal heated Agriculture-Based Specialized Greenhouse Organized Industrial Zone (TDIOSB) in Europe and Türkiye.
