Skyborn's Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm to Feature Siemens Gamesa's Biggest Turbines

Skyborn Renewables has signed an updated Master Supply Agreement with Siemens Gamesa for the delivery of 63 SG 14-236 DD wind turbines, with a power boost of 15 MW, for its 945 MW Gennaker offshore wind project in the German Baltic Sea.

The agreement strengthens the long-term partnership between the two companies and replaces the 2022 Master Supply Agreement, which provided for the delivery of 103 SG 8.0-167 DD Siemens Gamesa wind turbines (with a power boost of up to 9 MW).

Located approximately 15 kilometres north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, the project area sits within a designated priority zone for offshore wind energy in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania coastal sea.

Skyborn secured the initial building permit for the Gennaker site in May 2019 and maintains site exclusivity for development.

Recently, Allseas was awarded a contract by the Dutch-Belgian HSI consortium of HSM Offshore Energy, Smulders, and Iv for the transport and installation of two substations for the Gennaker offshore wind farm.

Allseas will deploy its heavy lift vessel Pioneering Spirit to install the suction bucket jackets and the 61-metre-long, 34-metre-wide topsides.

50Hertz is responsible for the entire grid connection project called Grid Connection OST-6-1. The generated wind power will be collected on the two offshore platforms and transported at the 220-kV extra-high-voltage level. Three submarine cable systems will be installed to transport the electricity to the mainland.

Offshore construction works are planned to commence in 2027.
