Six hydropower plants operated by Axpo Group in Misox GR, Switzerland, have been affected by recent floods. In response, these plants have been systematically shut down over the past few days. All facilities, along with their reservoirs, remain in a safe state and are partially operational, Axpo said. Plans for recommissioning will be made in coordination with the relevant authorities.
The impacted hydropower plants include OIM (Officine Idroelettriche di Mesolcina SA), Calancasca SA, and ELIN (Elettricità Industriale SA). Axpo also manages the small power plants Idro Arvigo AG and Tecnicama AG, the latter on behalf of BKW and the municipality of Calanca. These plants were deactivated promptly and in a controlled manner to ensure safety.
The hydropower plants operated by Officine Idroelettriche Mesolcina and Calancasca AG experienced only minor damage. They are secure and ready for operation, pending approval from the authorities.
Meanwhile, facilities and reservoirs belonging to Elettricità Industriale SA, while safe, have sustained damage that must be repaired before they can resume operations.
