Renewable energy producer African Clean Energy Developments (ACED) has placed an order for 144 MW for the Umsinde Emoyeni wind farm, which will be located in the Western Cape, South Africa. The contract includes the supply and installation of 32 V163-4.5 MW wind turbines, as well as a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contract.
Sam Cook, Project Director of Procurement and Construction at ACED, highlights: “ACED and African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) have a relationship with Vestas that dates back to the inception of the wind energy industry in South Africa in 2011. We are very happy “We will place another order with Vestas, at the service of our buyer Sibanye Stillwater, our shareholders and the communities around our project.”

Delivery of the turbine is scheduled for the first half of 2025 and commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2026.
Vestas leads the South African wind energy market with more than 1.5 GW of capacity installed or under construction.
