Eva Inaugurates First LNG Service Station in Peru

04 Jul 2024  by gasworld

Energia de Valor Ambiental (EVA) has inaugurated the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) service station in Peru.

The station is located at Mala in the province of Canete, next to the key country-connecting South Pan-American Highway. EVA was created by Limagas and HAM Group.

The key appeal of the Benito station modular concept is that it can be installed and commissioned in less than a day. LNG supply points will also open in Nazca and Arequipa in the second half of this year.

The Mala LNG station has an 80 cbm tank that integrates two dispensers, with a hose each, which allows refuelling LNG for heavy vehicles and all types of trucks.

The self-service station is open all year round and monitored remotely with advanced security systems to guarantee smooth operations and technical service support.

EVA is promoting the use of vehicular natural gas (NGV) from LNG for Peruvian road transport and CNG for passenger cars, light vehicles and trucks, with the expectation of opening, before December 2025, between 10 and 15 service stations.

EVA said it is committed to sustainable mobility, with efficient energy solutions that allow the reduction of the environmental impact with eco-friendly fuels, which reduce CO2 emissions.

HAM Group offers a range of services covering LNG, biogas, CNG-LNG refueling, road transport of cryogenic products, LNG marketing and other activities.

EIG’s MidOcean Energy completed buying a 20% stake in Peru LNG (PLNG) in April.

PLNG’s assets comprise a natural gas liquefaction plant with 4.45 mmtpa processing capacity, a fully owned 408km-long pipeline with 1,290 mmcf/d capacity, two 130,000 cbm storage tanks, a 1.4 km-long marine terminal and a truck loading facility with capacity of up to 19.2 mmcf/d.

PLNG, operated by Hunt Oil Company, is one of only two LNG production facilities in Latin America, and located in Pampa Melchorita, 170km south of Lima.
