Ramboll Gets Foundation Design Contract for 945 MW German Offshore Wind Project

Ramboll has been selected as the foundation designer for the Gennaker offshore wind project in the German Baltic Sea, owned by Skyborn Renewables.

Under the contract, Ramboll will be responsible for developing the basic and detailed design of 63 monopile foundations supporting Siemens Gamesa’s SG 14-236 DD wind turbines.

In addition, the company’s role extends to aiding Skyborn Renewables throughout the necessary regulatory approval and certification processes, Ramboll stated.

Our team is thrilled to lend our design expertise for yet another project in this region after already being responsible for the foundation design for Arkona Becken, Baltic Eagle and Windanker,” said Tim Fischer, Global Executive Director Wind at Ramboll.

Located 15 kilometres off the German coast near the Darß peninsula, and with a production capacity of 945 MW, Gennaker will be the largest and most powerful offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea to date.

OWP Gennaker GmbH, a subsidiary of Skyborn Renewables, will realise the offshore wind project.

The project area is located in a priority area for offshore wind energy in the coastal sea of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Gennaker will feature 63 SG 14-236 DD wind turbines (with a power boost of 15 MW), under an agreement signed with Siemens Gamesa at the end of last month.

Offshore construction works are planned to commence in 2027.

50Hertz is responsible for the entire grid connection project called Grid Connection OST-6-1. The generated wind power will be collected on the two offshore platforms and transported at the 220-kV extra-high-voltage level. Three submarine cable systems will be installed to transport the electricity to the mainland.
