Statkraft has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) related to the Scurf Dyke Solar Farm near Driffield. In addition, the company has agreed to optimise the adjacent 8-MW storage facility under a separate agreement, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
The contracts were signed with FP Lux Group, a fund managed by re:cap global investors ag which bought the asset from German renewables company BayWa r.e. AG in January 2023. BayWa r.e. remained involved as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services provider.
The PPA was signed with a minimum strike price allowing Statkraft to turn off the facility to avoid generating power during negative price periods. The Nordic firm will rely on its virtual power plant (VPP) system to manage the risk.
