The geothermal well is planned to have a depth of 600 meters. The first 300 meters will be cased and cemented. An environmental impact assessment (EIA) will not be required for the drilling operations. The cost of the project was determined as TL 2.2 million. (approx. USD 66,600)
The project area is located 70 km from Izmir provincial center, 11.7 km from Cesme district center and 6 km from Alacati neighborhood. The project site will have an EIA request area of 930 square meters within an area of 80,966 square meters.
The measures to be taken to prevent damage to the tourism values in the region and the works to be carried out within the scope of the project were detailed in the EIA report. Izmir Governorship approved the decision of ‘EIA Not Required’ because of the evaluation of the environmental impacts of the project.
Plans to explore the potential of geothermal resources for thermal tourism in the Cesme district were announced in mid-2023.
