VB Geo Projects is now busy with preparatory work for the planned expansion of the Aardwarmte Vogelaer geothermal heating network in the Netherlands. The planned Aardwarmte Vogelaer 2 project significantly increases the capacity of the geothermal installation allowing for the supply to new customers, including a new residential area in Orberlaan in Monster. Work is expected to be completed in 2024.

In recent weeks, VB has been working preparing the injection pipes which will be used to pump the water back into the subsurface. They are also working on surface facilities including, the blowdown tank, degasser tank, and gas dryer.

Part of the expansion is the drilling of a new doublet. The drilling site is now being prepared, and the conductor casing for both production and injection wells are now in place. The construction of the drilling tower is expected to be done by August, and drilling will take place from September to November. The drilling activities will be carried out by DrillTec under the supervision of Well Engineering Partners.

Plans for the expansion of the company’s geothermal heating capacity with a second installation had been reported in early 2023. The second installation will be placed next the company’s first geothermal facility which is already supplying renewable heat to 19 companies.

The construction of heating pipes in Van Ockenburchlaan will also start by August and will last until September. This is part of the new geothermal heating network that is planned to have a total length of 1.7 kilometers.
